Privacy Policy
We collect as little as possible, we explain what we do with it, and we never sell it. This page sets out the detail in full.
Last updated: August 1, 2026 · This document applies to https://chat.tvmarinternet.com/ and to services provided by TVMar Internet.
1. Who we are
TVMar Internet (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a sole proprietorship owned and operated by James David Clark, with a business address at 184 Hickory Ln, Germantown, KY 41044, USA. We provide independent home internet, Wi-Fi and streaming television setup and support services. We are the controller responsible for personal information processed through https://chat.tvmarinternet.com/ and through our support channels.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to answer an enquiry, deliver a support session and keep proper business records:
- Contact details you provide voluntarily: name, email address, telephone number and, for on-site visits, your service address.
- Support details: the description of your problem, equipment makes and models, your internet provider, and notes taken during the session.
- Configuration records: network names and settings we changed, kept so that we can restore or explain them later. You may ask us to exclude credentials from these records.
- Billing information: invoice records and payment confirmations. Card numbers are handled by our payment processor and are never stored by us.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, referring page and pages viewed, collected through server logs and, if you consent, analytics cookies.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, and we do not collect sensitive categories of personal information such as health, biometric or precise geolocation data.
3. Why we use it
- To respond to your enquiry and provide the support you requested (performance of a contract or steps taken at your request).
- To schedule appointments and send appointment reminders.
- To issue invoices and maintain accounting and tax records as required by law.
- To carry out the free seven-day follow-up included with every session.
- To improve the website and understand which pages are useful, where you have consented to analytics.
- To detect, prevent and investigate fraud, abuse or security incidents.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not send marketing email unless you have specifically asked to receive it.
4. Legal bases and your choices
Where a legal basis is required, we rely on your consent (for optional cookies and any marketing), the performance of our agreement with you (to deliver support), our legitimate interests (to secure the site and keep records) and compliance with legal obligations (tax and accounting). You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting work already performed.
5. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell, rent, trade or otherwise disclose personal information for money or for cross-context behavioural advertising. We share information only with service providers who act on our instructions and only to the extent necessary:
- Our web hosting provider, which stores the website and its server logs.
- Our email provider, which delivers correspondence sent to and from admin@chat.tvmarinternet.com.
- Our payment processor, which handles card and ACH transactions.
- Our accountant, for the preparation of tax filings.
- Screen-sharing software used for remote sessions, which processes the session only while it is open.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
6. Remote sessions
Remote support sessions are always started by you and can be ended by you at any moment. We do not install persistent remote-access software on customer equipment. We do not view files unrelated to the reported issue, and we never ask for banking credentials, one-time codes or payment card numbers during a session.
7. How long we keep information
- Enquiries that do not become a booking: deleted after 12 months.
- Session notes and configuration records: retained for 3 years so we can support returning customers.
- Invoices and financial records: retained for 7 years to meet tax obligations.
- Website server logs: retained for 90 days.
- Analytics data: retained for 14 months where consent was given.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, correction of inaccurate information, deletion of information we no longer need, a copy of your information in a portable format, and confirmation of whether we sell or share personal information (we do not). Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas and other states with comprehensive privacy laws may exercise these rights regardless of the state they live in — we apply the same standard to everyone.
To make a request, email admin@chat.tvmarinternet.com with the words “privacy request” in the subject line. We will verify your identity using information already associated with your record and respond within 45 days. Requests are free unless they are manifestly excessive or repetitive. You may appeal a refused request by replying to our decision; we will review and respond within a further 45 days.
9. Security
Access to customer records is limited to the owner and, where operationally necessary, the two contracted support staff who are bound by written confidentiality terms. The website is served over HTTPS, records are stored on password-protected and encrypted systems, and administrative accounts use multi-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable and appropriate steps proportionate to the sensitivity of the data we hold, and we will notify affected individuals without undue delay if a breach is likely to create a risk to them.
10. Do Not Track and global privacy signals
Our website does not respond to browser Do Not Track headers because no consistent standard exists. It does honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, which we treat as an instruction to disable optional analytics cookies for that browser.
11. International visitors
Our services are directed to households in the United States, and information is stored and processed in the United States. If you access this website from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local law.
12. Changes to this policy
We will update this page whenever our practices change and revise the “last updated” date at the top. Material changes affecting existing customers will also be communicated by email where we hold a current address.
