Before you write

Three things that speed everything up

1. Photograph the label. The sticker on the underside of your router carries the model number and default credentials we need to give accurate advice.

2. Note when it happens. “Every evening after seven” and “randomly, once a week” point to completely different causes.

3. Tell us what you already tried. It stops us repeating steps you have already ruled out and usually saves fifteen minutes of the session.
